solo bar crawler having a killer time at the halloween bar crawl

Bar Crawl Solo Experience: What It’s Like To Attend A Bar Crawl By Yourself

Yo, party people! Are your friends playing the "Sorry, can't make it" card again when you're itching to get out of the house? Fear not, because we're about to dive into the wild world of going solo to a bar crawl! Whether you're new in town, your buddies are too busy Netflix-and-chilling, or you're wanting to test your limits, welcome to the adventure you never knew you needed. We are here to spill the tea on what it's really like and how to make it the best damn night of your life.

Embrace the Unknown: An Adventure Awaits 🌟

Why go solo, you ask? Well, sometimes you've got to put on your big girl & boy pants and as Nike says, just do it! Going to the bar crawl solo is like reading through a choose-your-own-adventure book, only with more tequila shots and fewer pages to flip. You can be the maverick who's not afraid to march to the beat of their own drum. If you have gone to a bar by yourself, you are on the right track but this is that x 1000. Sitting at a boring bar waiting for someone to come up to you is no way to do it, guys. Head to the bar crawl where the options are endless!

Who knows, you might just stumble upon your new partner-in-crime or your future bestie. It's like Tinder, but with less swiping and more shots.

Pros of Attending a Bar Crawl Solo:

Freedom and Flexibility

You're the captain of your ship, and your ship is a cocktail cruise. No need to compromise with friends on which bar to hit next or how long to stay. It's your show, baby! You don't have to listen to John complain that the drinks aren't strong enough or Brittany asking "are ready to leave yet". You can come as you please, drink whatever you want, and party with the best people at the hottest spots in town.

Personal Growth

You'll become a pro at making small talk with strangers. Seriously, who needs therapy when you've got bar crawls to boost your confidence and social skills?

Unpredictable Connections

Prepare for unexpected friendships and memories. It's like Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a... solo bar crawl; you never know who you're gonna meet next." Wait, is that how he put it?! Haha!

No Group Drama

This one speaks for itself! No arguments, no drama. You're the star of your own show, and there's no one to steal your spotlight.

Cons of Attending a Bar Crawl Solo:

Alright, we talked about the tons of pros but we already know you want to hear the other side of the spectrum. And we are here to be transparent as possible.

Limited Safety Net

You don't have your trusty wingman or wingwoman by your side. Safety first, folks! Let someone know your game plan and check in with them. Text your mom and let her know you're out. You never know and you definitely always want to be safe. And hey, even if you are with a group, you should still text your mom.

Feelings

If you aren't feeling your best self, you probably shouldn't go out. They always say, liquor is the devils poison! Don't drink on a negative mind. However, if you are nervous of feeling a bit lonely at a bar crawl, fear not. Our party goers are super welcoming and awesome.

Less Shared Experiences

Inside jokes? Shared memories? Well, those might be in short supply. But hey, you're creating your own epic moments.

Safety Concerns

Being a lone wolf in unfamiliar territory can be intimidating. Safety could definitely be a concern if you are being a bit over served. Make sure you are watching how much you are drinking and you are aware of your surroundings. Stay alert and trust your instincts, and you'll be just fine.

Planning: Know Before You Go 🗺️

Before you embark on your solo bar crawl, do a bit of prep work. It can never hurt. Have a few topics in your back pocket to talk about when you meet someone new, maybe even a pick up line or two.

Solo Pro Tips:

Alright, now that we evaluated the pros and cons, let's just go for it. Here are some pro tips to make sure you have the best time while heading to the bar crawl by yourself!

Choose the Right Event

Not all bar crawls are created equal. Do some research, read reviews, and find one that screams "solo-friendly" and "epic party" at the same time. Bar Crawl LIVE bar crawls will definitely offer both of those options for you.

Read The Directions

This seems self explanatory but does anyone read anymore? We always send an email to all of our crawlers beforehand to make sure they know where to go for check-in, get a sneak peak on drink and food specials, and other fun activities that will be happening at the crawl. So make sure you check your email before your go! We even have a maps on the digital bar list so you can get the address straight on google maps! So, get the scoop on the bars you're hitting. No one wants to be that lost soul wandering the streets in search of the next watering hole.

Keep Contacts Informed

Safety might not be the sexiest topic, but it's crucial. You're a solo superstar, but even rockstars need backup. If something doesn't feel right, bail gracefully. You've got to trust that gut instinct! Share your plans with a trusted friend or family member and check in with them during the night.

Arrange Transportation

Don't risk turning your epic night into an epic fail by forgetting how you're getting home. Rely on those trusty ride-sharing apps as if they're your personal chauffeurs.

Be Open

Now, let's talk about the fun stuff—the mingling and making memories part! Flash those pearly whites and toss out a friendly "hello" like confetti. You're here to party, and a little charm can go a long way.

Join The Activities

Bar crawls often have games, contests, and challenges. Don't be shy; dive right in! You might win a beer pong tournament or become the limbo champion of the night.

Go at Your Pace

You're not racing anyone but yourself. Stay longer at that swanky speakeasy or bounce to the next joint like a tipsy Tigger. It's your call.

Try Something New

If you normally don't walk up to a group of people, go for it! Forget your comfort zone; it's time to break free! Try a new drink and dance like nobody's watching!

Respect Boundaries & Read Social Cues

Not everyone's up for a chat, and that's cool. Some folks are here for their own adventure, and that's A-okay. Give them their space.

Take Pictures

Snap away like you're the paparazzi at the party. These pics will be your badges of honor.

Strait from the Source: Sarah's Solo Saga

I'd just moved to a new city and found myself facing Halloween alone. The few friends that I usually hang out with were MIA. I could have stayed in and felt the FOMO but I decided to be courageous and try the Halloween Bar Crawl by myself. I couldn't let me fear of going alone sabatage spooky season.

So, after some online sleuthing, I stumbled upon a Halloween bar crawl. Destiny was calling, and it had a sort of werewolf howl to it.

Armed with my witchy costume, complete with a pointy hat and a broomstick, I hopped into my uber and went to the crawl. I got out of my uber and I dreaded waiting in the long line outside of the venue but it ended up being a perfect spot to meet people. It was kind of like waiting in the line at the amusement park where theres nothing really to do but talk to people. Everyone was super friendly and excited to get the party started. I also felt that I had won by going alone because I was able to get in super fast because everyone else that were in groups took forever to get their tickets together and I was able to get my wristband super quickly since it was just me!

I stepped into the first bar on the list which was decked out like a haunted mansion. We are talking cobwebs, skeletons, dark and ominous lighting, and a beat that you could even feel the vibration . I felt like I'd stepped into that halloween party that the parents went to in Hocus Pocus, and I was here for it.

Since I was starting to feel like Lindsey Lohan in the scene Mean Girls when she walks into the high school Halloween Party, I darted to the bar as quick as I could. I ordered the discounted themed shot and the discounted halloween themed drink and instantly chugged both. Whoops! After that, I was staring to get my liquid courage.

There were some strangers at the bar that I was able to spark up a conversation with and we suprisingly had mutual friends. I actually hang out with them almost every weekend now! Oh, and my cheecks are red writing this but I might have met a guy in that group too. Hopefully, if things go right, we might be dating by the next Halloween Bar Crawl.

But anywho, back to the story, since I was already outside of my comfort zone, I felt I could go even further by signing for the Costume Contest. It was so fun! The crowd cheers for what they think the best costume is and essentially everyone wins because we get free tickets to an upcoming bar crawl for just participating which was awesome.

The night was a whirlwind and went by so fast! One of my favorite moments was of course when the DJ at this really cool rooftop bar played Thriller and everyone did the dance together. I essentially lived my dream as Jennifer Garner in the movie 13 going on 30. Hope y'all get that reference.

I even found myself at one of the funnest after parties where it was like a music festival with confetti cannons, CO2 tanks, it was nuts!

All in all, it was a Halloween for the books, and I'm super thankful for Bar Crawl LIVE and proud of myself for doing it!🎃👻🍻

Wrap Up

So, if you're thinking about going to a bar crawl on your own, the best way to find out is to just do it. Get tickets to this year's Halloween Bar Crawl and find out for yourself!

Cheers, and may your solo bar crawl be one for the books! 🍻
